Bee University NYC Board of Directors

Overview:

Bee University NYC (Bee-U) is seeking passionate, experienced, and connected change makers to serve on the inaugural Bee University NYC Board of Directors. As a Board member, you will provide guidance, support, and strategic direction to Bee-U, ensuring the organization achieves its mission and objectives. Bee-U is committed to improving the community through various education and environmentally based programs and initiatives. Serving on the board is a rewarding and unique opportunity to contribute to youth and community development in New York City. Based on the North Shore of Staten Island, Bee-U provides an exceptional chance to contribute to the education and environmental communities in NYC.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the Bee University NYC’s mission and dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and in the lives of youth and community members.

  • Experience serving on a board of directors; leadership position (preferred)

  • Track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns in the nonprofit sector

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to commit time and resources to all board chair responsibilities

  • Experience working in the New York City nonprofit sector

Advisory Council Member

Overview:

Bee-U is seeking passionate and experienced non-profit development professionals to serve on the Bee-U Advisory Council. As an Advisory Council member, you will provide guidance, support, and strategic direction to Bee-U, ensuring the organization achieves its mission and objectives. Serving on the Council is a rewarding and unique opportunity to contribute to youth and community development in New York City, especially for those who are seeking a leadership role with a lesser commitment than our Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend quarterly Advisory Council meetings and optional Focus Groups

  • Offer strategic advice, guidance, and support to the Bee-U Leadership

  • Provide expertise in non-profit development, particularly fundraising and sponsorships

  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the organization

  • Assist in identifying and cultivating new donors, sponsors, and partners for the organization

  • Help oversee and monitor the health of the organization and actively serve as an ambassador and advocate for Bee-U

  • Adhere to Bee-U bylaws and code of conduct

  • Commitment to a one-year term for the first term. Following terms are two-year terms. 

  • Give-Get of $1,000 due at the end of each fiscal year (October).

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the Bee-U’s mission and dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and in the lives of youth and community members.

  • Experience serving on advisory Councils or similar leadership positions

  • Expertise in a particular area such as finance, legal, marketing, fundraising, or program development

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to commit time and resources to attend Council meetings and other activities as needed

  • Willingness to contribute to fundraising efforts and engage in donor cultivation
